Jason photographed this wedding with a second and they had a magical time. Jason also went on to photograph Vanessa sister’s wedding which we always love as its so nice to meet up with everyone again and have a laugh. Vanessa and Tom’s had a fantastic marquee wedding near Welshpool on the family farm. It’s hard to get across how much effort went in to creating the truly magical setting in which they had their reception, but no doubt Tom’s skills with big diggers (I’m sure there is a proper name…) came in to play. I’m getting ahead of myself now though, as they started at the beautiful hidden gem of Gregynog Hall, a large country mansion in the village of Tregynon near Nessa’s parents for a ceremony in the Music Room. After canapes and drinks in the gardens, it was a short ride in a Fastrac (another digger) to the farm, where everything was in place and perfectly organised – even down to parking attendants to shout at Jason for not parking where he should! 🙂

The marquee was laid out on a proper base, so no wobbly floors, with wood chippings and a huge line of tree stumps cut to take firelighters and provide illumination in the evening alongside the lit up trees, log burner and digger archway. Inside the marquee, Vanessa had worked her magic with a mind-blowing array of fruity cakes and design touches. Suffice to say, it was a fantastic and well thought out setting, but it all seemed so effortless and relaxed because of the careful prep work.

Wedding Dress

Vanessa’s wedding dress had a beautiful neckline which had subtle bead detail all along it which meant no jewellery was needed. The picturesque bodice was covered in lace detailing which was also used on the A line wedding skirt, that skirt then glided down the wedding aisle gorgeously.

Almost every wedding gown is bought from a bridal boutique according the Hitched national wedding survey. I am not surprised, getting the wedding dress right is the dream.

Wedding Venue

Gregynog hall is one of those breath-taking places you just do not know is there. Its almost like an amazing secret has been revealed as you drive into the car park. The gardens are charming, and the inside décor and space is dazzling.

Vanessa and Tom chose to have their wedding ceremony here as it as in an attractive hall and also close to their family’s farm where they would later move onto for the wedding reception.

Brides Wedding Bouquet

The bride’s bouquet matched with her colour scheme prettily and was perfect for that time of year. There were fabulous pink roses and purples, whites, and greens. I also loved the twine used in replace of traditional ribbon to finish the bouquet off perfectly. The bouquet was spectacular, sublime, and serene.

Brides Wedding Hair

Vanessa has beautiful brunette hair which she had pinned up and set with a magnificent cathedral length veil.

One tip is if you opt for the cathedral length veil make sure you have bobby pins and that you secure your veil with a pin either side of the veil as these longs veils tend to come out very easily and are then rarely put back in straight!

Wedding Reception

We love marquee farm weddings and Vanessa and Tom had really put together an attractive space for their Welsh farm wedding. Logs lined a path and diggers created a beautiful archway entrance. They had haybale seating and stunning flowers everywhere. It was a relaxed affair and well thought out, which showed on the day in how the guests were enjoying the celebrations.

Wedding photography tech

So, Jason loves lighting and his skills in this area as far as I am concerned are unrivalled. One of my favourite images from the wedding day is the photograph of Vanessa and Tom in the car kissing. Technically this wedding photograph is easy to set up, the trickier parts are getting the light set to the right power.

He used an off-camera flash in the car and then in camera manual settings to get your camera to take in as little light as possible allowing the flashed area to be the main focus of the photograph.
