Old Palace Hotel Wedding Photographer

Old Palace wedding photography by Marie Lloyd

I’m Marie, a Chester-based wedding photographer specialising in relaxed, natural imagery with a soft editorial feel. I create beautifully honest photographs that reflect how your day truly felt, while gently guiding you so you feel comfortable, confident and completely yourself in front of the camera. Alongside digital, I also offer 35mm film for couples who want something a little more timeless and distinctive.

My photography style

I’m drawn to colour, so your gallery is always delivered in its full richness, but I also include a curated black-and-white edit for those quieter, more timeless moments.
For something a little different, you can choose to add 35mm film to your day, bringing a soft, nostalgic feel that can’t be replicated digitally.
My style blends romantic, natural storytelling with a subtle editorial influence, capturing your wedding as it truly felt, while reflecting it beautifully.

Chester 35mm Film Photographer

I also offer 35mm film photography as an optional add-on to your day, using a vintage film camera to capture a small collection of beautifully raw, unfiltered moments. Typically, I’ll shoot one roll of film, which is usually more than enough to complement your gallery, though you can always add more if you’d like. With no screen to check and no retakes, film is exactly as it comes, giving your images a soft, nostalgic feel that’s honest, imperfect and completely unique to your day.

Short Coverage Chester Wedding Photography

Testimonials

  • “We couldn’t be happier with the photos we’ve received from Marie. Every interaction in the lead up to the wedding was friendly and professional, and when she arrived on the day, she was the perfect blend of calming influence and hype-woman.”
    Max & Emily – Wrexham
  • “Marie did the most amazing job for our wedding day. She judged the mood of the wedding perfectly, fitted in with our guest and made everyone feel at ease and comfortable. My partner and I usually hate taking pictures, and feel stiff and posed, however Marie got beautiful natural photos that made us both feel so confident.”
    Amber & Simon – Llanrwst
  • “Marie was absolutely amazing from our very first chat! Not only are her pictures wonderful but she is such a lovely person, she answered all my very many questions, put my mind at ease when I got over whelmed and had perfect communication throughout the whole process.”
    Amelia & Keron – Llangollen

My experience at Chester and Cheshire Wedding Venues

I have been photographing since 2009 and have photographed at the majority, if not all, of Chester’s wedding venues and numerous times at Chester Town Hall. Other venues I have photographed at include barn wedding venues such as Foxtail Wedding Barn and Owen House Wedding Barn. I adore Chester’s country houses, and some recent ones I have photographed include Old Palace Chester and Cheshire View. I also love the more intimate venues such as Oddfellows, Shrub and the 1539 at Chester Racecourse restaurant. My years of experience at these incredible Chester venues mean I am relaxed in both new and older venues and have forged many relationships with suppliers over the years.

Learn more about me

I started out taking evening photography classes in 2008 and then took private lessons with a wedding photographer to move into the wedding world. I photographed my first wedding as a second photographer in Plas Isaf, Corwen, North Wales. I was hooked from that day. There is nothing like driving to work knowing everyone will be excited, in a great mood, and ready for a wonderful day ahead.

From then on, I built a website and called myself Marie Lloyd Photography, not imaginative, I know, but I have good SEO with that name now, so I can’t change it to anything cooler! I photographed 16 weddings in my first year, and I have tried to work out how many weddings I have photographed since, and it must be 400 plus now. From that experience, I feel that there is no wedding scenario that you can throw at me that I cannot handle.

I love moving with the times and keeping up with trends. I take a new course every year and also strive to keep learning and growing my photography skills.

I like to keep things simple, so your base package covers your full wedding photography. From there, you can tailor your coverage to suit your day, whether that’s adding a roll of 35mm film for something a little more nostalgic or a second photographer to capture even more of the story as it unfolds.
