This is one of our favourite wedding venues to photograph at. Ruthin Castle, is based in North Wales. We photographed the Ruthin Castle wedding with Ceri and Glenn. We have done a lot of wedding photography at Ruthin castle over the years with it being a premier luxury wedding venue in North Wales.
They had their wedding ceremony at the beautiful church of St Mary in Halkyn, North Wales, with its beautiful views over the North Sea. Glenn got ready at the Castle, while Ceri arrived in the VW Camper from Rhes-y-Cae, narrowly avoiding the rain shower, and looked dazzling. They had a travel theme reception back at Ruthin Castle and unusually set the speeches between the starter and main. It worked well and brought them out just in time to catch the last few rays of a sunset for some cool evening shots.
Men’s wedding suits
The guys wore a simple blue 3 piece suit, which is a timeless and classic choice, and I love it as this suits everyone. They finished it with ivory pocket squares, a simple ivory tie and an orange lily as the buttonhole.

Wedding Dress
Diamante detailing to the top of the front and back of the dress beautifully accents the sweetheart neckline of the wedding dress. A breathtaking back with cut out detail and A line skirt with ruche detailing all over the dress, coupled with a diamante detailing to the hip of the skirt, completed the look of the dress and tied everything in. The bride looked incredible in the dress and it suited her perfectly.

Wedding Ceremony venue
They chose the church in Halkyn as the ceremony venue which is a medium-sized church making it feel a more intimate and warm ceremony. After the ceremony guests lined up for a bubble line rather than confetti, which everyone adored.

Wedding Reception
If you have never been to Ruthin Castle before, it is one to put on your bucket list. Steeped in History Ruthin Castle boasts Henry the VIII having been one of its guests. My favourite part of Ruthin Castle must be the entrance. When you arrive to the two lions at the entrance you will know why, they look spectacular and set the scene for the venue. Inside there are coats of armour in addition, wood paneling and stunning artwork, as you would imagine in a castle. The reception room has beautiful light for a castle with enormous windows and lined with grand mirrors and chandeliers making it the perfect room for a fairytale wedding.

Wedding Flowers
They kept flowers to a minimum. However, I adored this as I did not feel this venue needed that many. Simple lilies made up the bride’s bouquet with an ivory Lilly for the bridesmaids to hold.

Brides Wedding hair
The hair was placed up and set with a diamante clip. Ideal for the style wedding dress Ceri had showed off the picturesque diamante top part to the dress.

Tech bit
Jason was lucky enough to get a sunset at this wedding and made use of that with off camera flash. Each couple was individually lit while the camera steadied on a tripod. The photo would be taken with each couple lit by flash and then these images were merged to create the bridal party sunset shot, you see.
