Wedding Photography Bridal Prep
Our wedding photography for Nina’s wedding prep began at one of the nicest places to stay I have seen in a long time, Old Downton Lodge in Shropshire. Check their website out as I think they describe themselves really well on the home page – “not a hotel, nor is it really a bed and breakfast or a restaurant with rooms”. It is an amazing and beautiful place and fantastic for wedding photography.
Wedding dress
The wedding dress was an exquisite fishtail lace dress which we hang in the gorgeous wedding prep venue in Shropshire. The back of the dress had a subtle diamante detail with a button back and a stunning length train to provide beautiful detail while walking down the aisle. The front of the dress had a v neckline with flower embellishments to add to that the lace had flower detail, particularly on the bottom of the wedding dress finishing the dress off perfectly. The wedding dress in Ivory looked breathtaking on the bride and the fishtail shape suited her perfectly.
Brides Bouquet
The bride’s wedding flowers were classic with so many contrasting flowers that yet seemed to compliment each other and bring the look altogether. The charming pinks created a stunning timeless look and I can’t see this bouquet ever dating.
Wedding Ceremony Venue in Shropshire
Ludlow castle set in Ludlow, which is a market town in Shropshire provides an amazing backdrop to a fairy tale ceremony and has stunning grounds for wedding photographs. The couple chose Ludlow Castle to have their ceremony opting for the indoor ceremony room which has beautiful window light, stunning views and is decorated in beautiful classic colors to complement and handsomely light the wedding ideal for photography. Here they had a few wedding photographs and served homemade sandwiches and refreshments for the guests before moving on to their reception venue.
Brides Hair
The wedding hair was left flowing and natural with a soft curl. I love this wedding style as I feel it’s timeless and natural and lends itself to looking not too dissimilar to what the bride would look like day to day, just enhancing her natural beauty.
Wedding Reception Venue in Shropshire
The wedding reception was at Netley Hall in Dorrington, Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. The venue offers what seems like unlimited views of gorgeous countryside and is such an impressive backdrop for your wedding photography. The lake provided a dazzling blue view, and with the green hills, it looked unbelievable. There is so much to explore there you probably need more than a day.
We made some lovely portraits at the Castle and then again at Millers by the lake. We used the fabulous evening light and Phil’s change to a formal RAF evening suit for a final set before heading home, tired but ecstatic and excited to see what we had captured.
Other wedding details
You may have noticed the paper aeroplanes, albeit much better quality than the ones we made out of A4 paper when we were younger. Aren’t they amazing? They were made bespoke to fit in with the couple theme and given as favours; everyone had fantastic fun with them on the day throwing them about. We also had fun photographing who could throw them the farthest competition!
The wedding photography techy bit
We used off-camera flash for some of the evening wedding photographs to add a bit of contrast and drama to the wedding photographs. So, by the lake, we placed a flashlight behind the wedding couple to create a light effect and then darkened down the image in-camera using the flash to pop the couple and contrast the background. We love using off-camera flash, particularly in the evening time when the sun is lower and so we don’t have to worry about too much sunlight overpowering everything.
How to find Netley Hall
As a Shropshire wedding venue based in Shrewsbury, Netley Hall takes advantage of the fantastic countryside. It is nestled between Shropshire, Herefordshire and Dorrington. The full address is Netley Hall, Dorrington, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. SY5 7JZ. You can find it using Google maps with the Google Plus code J669+7C Netley, Shrewsbury. If you head for the A49, you will find the turning for Netley Hall on there.
