How we met…
We first exchanged messages on Match.com in early January 2013. Our first date was on a cold Thursday evening 3 weeks later at the Alchemist in Manchester city centre and I think we both knew from that first initial meeting that this was something a bit different…. Awwww J What we found really strange was the amount of times that we had lived in the same areas and visited the same places but had never actually met. We had friends in common and I even went to the same small university at the same time as Bens brother and his friend (albeit in different year groups), but it took the rollercoaster ride of wading through thousands of random profiles online to meet someone who had been so close, but so far, for many years.
How he proposed…
Ben proposed to me in 2015 on Christmas Day. We’d been out visiting family and Ben asked if we could be romantic and open our presents just the two of us. Not realising at the time his intentions, I kept delaying this as I wanted to have a good catch up with my family.
Eventually the first opportunity was 11.30pm, by that time I had already darted upstairs and changed into my PJs. Now exhausted and absolutely full of cold, Lemsip in hand sat by a mountainous pile of used tissues, I sighed and suggested we did this in the morning!
After some significant convincing I relented and agreed to open up presents with just minutes to spare before midnight.
I had no idea Ben was going to propose, now teary eyed with happiness I ran to wake up my parents to announce the good news!
Luckily no one in their sombre state had the inclination to take any pictures, so I evaded being immortalised by my first engagement photo looking a little groggy to say the least.
Thankfully the next day, I was bright eyed and bushy tailed to be able to visit the family again to announce the good news, 24 hours later than Ben’s original plan!!
Our wedding vision
We decided to hold our wedding in Winter, specifically January as it not only compliments how we met, but will bring together our extended family and friends to entwine this really enjoyable time of year with something extra special. Furthermore, Ben and I really enjoy our skiing holidays and now we have children this has become our main annual family holiday.
We love the features of crisp cold and “dragon’s breath” combined with hot drinks and rich food to keep warm along with the company of people we love. Dark nights with sparkly lights and cosy open fires contrasting against each other. We want our wedding to be fun and to radiate the warmth of our love and friendship with each other, keeping the cold at bay J Tyn Dwr fitted perfectly with our vision from the outset, so for us, it is truly the dream venue.
