Pre‑Wedding Shoots

Feel more relaxed and confident in front of the camera.

What is a pre‑wedding shoot?

“A pre‑wedding shoot (sometimes called an engagement shoot) is a one‑hour session taken before your wedding. It’s relaxed, informal and very low‑pressure, no stiff posing or awkward instructions.”

Why book a pre‑wedding shoot?

  • Feel more relaxed and confident in front of the camera
  • Get used to how I work before the wedding day
  • See how natural and unposed their photos can look
  • Shake off any nerves before the big day
  • Have a beautiful set of images to use for frames, save‑the‑dates or wedding websites

Where does the shoot take place?

Most pre‑wedding shoots take place at Waun‑y‑Llyn Country Park, which is included in your pre‑wedding shoot and doesn’t incur any extra travel costs

If you’d prefer a different location, perhaps somewhere meaningful to you, that’s absolutely fine. Please note that alternative locations incur an additional fee to cover extra travel and time. You’ll be able to choose your location option when booking.

When should we book?

Pre‑wedding shoots work best when booked up to around five weeks before your wedding day, but the sooner the better, and ideally in warmer months. This keeps everything feeling fresh and avoids things getting too close to the wedding itself.

You can book your shoot up to 50 days in advance using my online calendar. I always recommend going for the golden hour, which is an hour before sunset.

Payment information

Your pre‑wedding shoot is invoiced separately from your wedding balance. However, the full amount comes off your final wedding payment, meaning you’re not paying anything extra overall; it’s simply spread out.

How to book your pre‑wedding shoot

Pre‑Wedding Shoot FAQs

Comfort is key, you should feel like yourselves. Try to avoid large logos, bold patterns or busy prints, as these can be distracting in photos.
I’d recommend:

  • Plain clothing without logos or patterns.
  • Colours that work nicely together rather than matching exactly.
  • Neutral, soft or earthy tones always photograph beautifully.
  • Clothes you can move and walk comfortably in.

Yes, you can. It will change the dynamics of the shoot, so if you still want mostly couple photos, bring a helper who can babysit or dog-sit while you have some undistracted photos.

I shoot pre-wedding shoots on weekdays, ideally an hour before sunset (if the skies are very dark and grey, it is nice to have the option to bring this time forward). So you are looking at a weekday evening shoot. However, this can be moved if it is more convenient for you to have it earlier in the day. The shoot itself is usually 45 minutes to an hour.

Yes, absolutely. You can reschedule your shoot easily using your booking link if the weather isn’t on our side.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to help.
