A Romantic Outdoor Wedding at Rookery Hall Marie Lloyd Photography
Rookery Hall has a way of holding space for something timeless. The Georgian architecture, the gardens, the light, it all feels considered without being overdone. Lauren and Ryan’s wedding made the most of it. They chose an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by colour and emotion and the kind of thoughtful details that make a day feel personal. From the handmade dresses to the harpist playing as guests arrived, everything felt intentional and quietly beautiful.
The Venue: Rookery Hall in Cheshire
There’s something about Rookery Hall that suits couples who want elegance without excess. The building itself is full of character, stonework, chimneys, soft curves, and the grounds offer space to breathe. For Lauren and Ryan, it was the perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony that felt open, relaxed, and full of warmth. You may also notice the venue from the photos of Posh & Becks announcing their engagement!
Lauren & Ryan
They’re the kind of couple who make everyone feel welcome. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was easy and joyful. The ceremony took place on the lawn, with flower jars lining the aisle and guests gathered in a mix of white chairs and standing clusters. It felt less like a performance and more like a gathering, with the harpist playing softly in the background and the bride walking down the aisle in a dress made by her maid of honour.
A Dress with Meaning
Lauren’s dress wasn’t just beautiful, it was personal. Her maid of honour, a costume maker by trade, designed and created it along with the bridesmaids’ dresses. The result was something romantic and editorial, with floral embroidery and movement that caught the light. It was one of those rare moments where craft and emotion meet.

The Ceremony
The ceremony itself was held outdoors, framed by the building behind and the soft cloud cover above. The aisle was scattered with petals, and the guests, some seated, some standing, leaned in as Lauren and Ryan exchanged vows. There was laughter, a few tears, and a sense that everyone was exactly where they were meant to be.
Editorial Moments
After the ceremony, we wandered through the grounds. The light was soft, the trees gave just enough shade, and the couple moved together with ease. These are the moments I love to photograph, quiet, natural, and full of connection. Rookery Hall lends itself to this kind of imagery. There’s space to move, but also texture and depth that make every frame feel layered.
Details That Tell a Story
The cake was made by Lauren’s mum, three tiers, decorated with pastel florals and cut with laughter. The table styling was soft and romantic, with floral installations flanking the space and delicate white blooms in glass vases. There was even an ice cream van parked nearby, adding a touch of nostalgia and joy.
