Wedding Guide
All the key tips I’ve developed over years of weddings—straightforward and easy to action, so you feel calm and well-prepared on your day.
Tips for your wedding day
Group Photos
Choose one or two trusted people to gather everyone up or your formal group’s family and friends’ photos. Make sure they have your list to follow.
Christian Wedding
If you are having a church wedding (Chapels are normally fine but worth checking), note that the officiant may not allow photographs during the service! Please check with them at your meeting or rehearsal to see if professional photography is allowed. They often don’t disclose their no-photos policy until the wedding day, often just telling me without telling the couple!
Details
If you want the details photographed, please hang the dress up in a nice spot and the shoes & details close by. Get a nice dress hanger; the plastic ones won’t do your dress justice. For lay flats, have a clear space, ideally by a window. You will want two invitations to show the front and back simultaneously.
Confetti
Confetti works best if there is a lot of it, so it’s best to buy lots for your guests. It’s worth mentioning to any bridesmaids or ushers that you may need them to help create two lines you can walk through. My confetti supplier recommendation is below.
Tidy Up
Getting ready photographs look better with less clutter. Nominate someone to keep the room tidy. Everyone can bring a loose bag to throw their change of clothes in quickly, as time will be short. If you are staying at the venue, put a label on the bags so they know which rooms to drop them into.
Parking
Parking can be an issue for me at churches as I will be arriving slightly before you, and guests will have taken the best and closest spots for parking. If it’s possible to save a parking space for me close to the ceremony, that’s Amazing. It just means I can be more assured of not missing your arrival moment.
First Dance
Confetti canons can enhance first dances. If you want guest tears, book a dance instructor who will create a simple routine you can follow. If you plan on just doing the sway as a photographer, I love it if you can manage two twirls. It just enhances the photographs.
Buttonholes
Buttonholes are worth a Google search on how to attach them; I always get asked for help! It’s also worth getting extra flower pins or safety pins, as someone always seems to need an extra one for their flower! Remember the saying ‘women are always right’! That means, boys, your flowers go on the left-hand side!
