Golden-Hour Vows at Hencote

If you’re searching for a wedding photographer Shropshire or a wedding photographer Shrewsbury who photographs natural, candid moments, let me take you to Hencote Estate. On the hottest day of the year, with warm summer showers and a show-stopping golden sunset, I joined Hidden Events at this hilltop vineyard to document Dave & Charlie’s celebration as their second shooter. My brief: photograph the groom’s morning and fill the gallery with genuine, unposed moments. Mission accepted.

Hencote Estate – A Shrewsbury Vineyard with a View.

Perched above the Severn Valley, Hencote Estate gives you Tuscany vibes without leaving Shropshire. The glass-fronted events terrace and white gazebo look straight over neat vine rows that sweep towards the River Severn, while the Wrekin and Shropshire Hills paint the horizon. It’s an effortless mix of wine-country romance and modern architecture that photographs beautifully in every season.

Groom’s Morning: Candid Moments & Calm Nerves

My day began at the grange overlooking the vines. Dave and his groomsmen swapped jokes, polished shoes, and tried (mostly successfully) to fold pocket squares in 30-degree heat. Working unobtrusively, I focused on laugh-out-loud candids, and the quiet moment Dave shared with the couple’s dog Henry just before heading to Hencote. These authentic snippets round out the story you’ll treasure later.

Hidden Events…

Seamless Planning in 30-Degree Heat

Credit where credit’s due: Hidden Events owners Carly and co kept everything on track. From ice-cold welcome drinks to shade umbrellas for guests, they anticipated the heat and those brief, refreshing showers. Their ethos of relaxed luxury matched the couple’s vibe perfectly.

Sun, Showers & That Perfect Golden Light.

The ceremony began with sunshine, paused for a five-minute sprinkle (hello, confetti-ready drizzle!), then cleared for a vineyard portrait session bathed in soft, diffused light. Just after dinner the clouds parted, turning the lawn gold. The couple, their dog and I headed for the open field; the resulting images are pure, glowing joy.

Having two photographers means:

Why Choose a Second Photographer?

01

Double coverage

Groom prep & bridal moments simultaneously.

02

More candid frames

While the lead photographs group formals, I roam for laughs, hugs and dance-floor antics.

03

Backup

Extra angles, extra security.
If you value a full, documentary set with an editorial finish, adding a second shooter is a small investment with huge returns.
