The Wedding Photos Brief
For this Iscoyd Park wedding, the couple wanted their day to feel fun, relaxed, with maximum time spent with guests and a little different, and their brief reflected that perfectly. They swapped confetti for bubbles, chose a feather boa moment instead of a bouquet toss, and included a Mr & Mrs Shoe Game (which I’ll always say is a must for brilliant candid photos at Iscoyd Park!).
They also asked for plenty of dancefloor shots, making sure all that energy and joy were captured as the night unfolded.
Iscoyd Park
Iscoyd Park is always a dream to photograph, and the Coach House is one of my favourite spaces there, bright, modern and full of character. This couple chose the Coach House for their wedding breakfast and after-party, and it was the perfect setting for relaxed speeches, great food, and a seriously fun evening on the dance floor.
A pre-wedding ceremony photo session
How the couple maximised time with their guests.
A lot of couples worry about losing time to portraits and missing the fun with guests. Max and Emily’s solution was simple and brilliant: we scheduled a pre-ceremony portrait session and a few family groups in the Library. It meant they could spend more time with guests after the ceremony, which was a big worry of theirs, and have their couple photos in a relaxed way without feeling rushed.
We kept the portraits relaxed and natural, using Iscoyd’s steps, arches, and beautiful indoor spaces to stay comfortable on a cold late-autumn day. Later, we snuck in a quick 10-minute mini-session in the Coach House right after the room reveal, as this is where the couple had spent the most money, and it gave a different look, a different energy, and no disruption to the timeline as we squeezed it in around the same time they did their room check with Iscoyd.
Time with wedding guests at Iscoyd
Celebrations at the Coach House
The couple chose a bubble gun exit and were thorough in choosing the best bubble guns for the job after testing lots to get the perfect photos. This was followed by drinks in the main house at Iscoyd, then on to The Coach House. The coach house looked incredible for the wedding breakfast, with textured greenery, rich whites and creams, figs, and seasonal tones by Blossom & Bloom Florist. Candlelight, glassware and long tables set the scene for a relaxed dinner with plenty of atmosphere.
Sparklers at Iscoyd.
A great addition to autumn/winter weddings with those early, darker evenings
Sparklers can add such a magical, celebratory touch to your wedding day; they’re a beautiful way to create those wow-factor photos that feel straight out of a luxury celebration. If you’re considering sparklers, I always chat through the details with my couples beforehand to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely.
While I’ll capture the photos, I recommend nominating a trusted guest or member of your wedding party to help coordinate the sparkler moment. This ensures everything feels effortless for you and keeps safety in mind. A few things to think about:
Lighting & Location: Choose a well-lit area with enough space for guests to stand comfortably.
Disposal: Have a safe spot ready for used sparklers.
Photo Style: Decide if you’d love an arch, a run-through, a romantic dip kiss, or something more intimate.
For the best results, I suggest 18-inch, low-smoke sparklers; they burn longer and look incredible in photos. This couple opted for a smaller guest list rather than everyone, which made the experience feel more relaxed and elegant. They combined an arch, a run-through, and a dip kiss, followed by a few portraits holding sparklers, and it worked beautifully.
Bubbles, Boas & The Mr & Mrs Shoe Game
The evening party at Iscoyd Park
Iscoyd Park is brilliant for couples who want to do things their way. Instead of confetti, the couple chose bubbles, which looked magical in the winter light and photographed beautifully. They chose a feather boa throw, which was pure fun and a great alternative to a bouquet toss, plus the guests seemed to love dancing with it. I’ve noticed that when props are on the dance floor, guests relax more and have more fun. They also opted for a Mr & Mrs Shoe Game, which delivered big laughs and even better candid photos.
A roll of 35mm film – the film photo gallery
I have an old Canon EOS 3, which I never thought I would get out again. It had been gathering dust, and it needs a bang to get going! In the digital-perfection age of filters and over-processing, I think couples are craving the nostalgic look of the past, its honesty, and its arty vibe. These images bring a new element to the wedding. These were the photos from the roll of film. For more information on adding a roll of film to your wedding photos, click below…
